    Question: First startup after rebuild

Alright, just got her back together after rebuilding the engine (only down to the pistons).  After a bit of troubleshooting she kicked right back to life.  The oil light stayed on for a minute which I was expecting but then she started smoking from under the tank.  I did not see exactly where it was coming from cause i freaked and shut her down.  It was very light, coulndt tell a color.  Could this have been just the moly solution and usual first startup or something I should be worried about??  Thanks

Re: Question: First startup after rebuild

After extensive work ill say a lil smoke( witch can seem like a lot) is normal.  as long as your oil light stays off your ok, even if you are leaking like a sive. just keep the kill switch covered in case the light pops on!

I had a leak a 1/2 mile from home. I covered the clutch and kill and kept going. the light poped on 30 ft. from my drive way and i was on the clutch and kill instantly. It ended up that my drain plug had come loose and fell out . The bike took  2 min. to drain all the oil while runing  before the losing preasure and kicking on the light . I got a new plug and oil and kept on going!! No damage or problems (other than a well lubed rear tire, like being on ice). So you should be fine to run it for a while and see if the smoke starts to clear.

CBR929-jardine race can, down 1, polished frame and swing arm, wheels polished, HELI bars, Sargent seat, Puig racing screen

commuting on a VLX600 shadow for now, 60MPG!!! I punched out the baffles, so it has that V-twin snap and crackle that made H/D so infamous. Except this little scute is rice powered!!lol
