Help bike stalls when in gear

    Help bike stalls when in gear

    hope somebody can help me out with this. I'm pretty sure it's some sort of wiring or sensor issue with the kickstand as I can start the bike no problem but when I put it in to gear, 1st or 2nd, the bike would shut off like the kickstand is down. Can anybody give me some advice on where to look or how to fix this issue either by removing the bike shut off when in gear safty feature or a sensor replacement? it's a 01 f4i by the way. some diagram would help out alot.

    ure diagnosis sounds good.  did u check the sensor that is mounted to the kickstand yet?  IIRC, there should be 3 wires connected to it.

    Thanks for the quick reply, it happened last night and the bike was on a small street without much light, so I couldn't really see anything around the kickstand.  I'll check it today after work, do I just check if the wiring is loose or disconnected?  Is there anyway to just disconnect the wire and then ground it to bypass the whole safty thing?

    ya u can bypass the switch, but i dont kno if itll just disconnect easily.  im sure some cutting/splicing is in order.  do a search or check the tutorials section for some more in-depth instructions.  however, u could always jus repair it.

    thanks for your help stangmx, got it fixed.  it was the kickstand switch that came loose, had hell of a time trying to put it back on but got it done and bike good as new.
