    cam chain tensioner lifter.

looking for someone who has done this before in the san bernardino/riverside area. freaking mechanics keep giving me there nonsense about everything and just wont do what i ask. they insist on adding extra cost to everything a chaparral and john burr. anybody with any luck changing their own in my area. of course cash compensation would be there for your time that wou'd be giving up.

if anyone can help drop a line on here and i'll definitely appreciate the help. rather pay one of you guys than the "man"

done what exactly?  modified the OEM CCTL?  Installed a manual CCTL?  What year/model?

modify and install an oem would be preferred. or is it even worth it. its for the 2001 f4i.

there seems to be a war of words about oem vs the manual. i really just want the sound gone.

whats the best route in your opinion.

I'm new to this whole thing.

i bought and installed an APE manual tensioner and haven't had a problem for 4 years.  YMMV.

If you drove down to San Diego on a weekend, I wouldn't charge you anything except maybe a burrito.  I wouldn't do it for you, though, but I'd help you through the process.  I have all the tools you would need.  I'm a big believer in the Socratic method.  PM me if you're interested, and we can exchange phone numbers and set up a time to make it happen.

Be aware that this particular modification is not difficult, but rather tedious.  Prepare to spend about 4 hours tinkering around, to get a little dirty, and to skin a knuckle or two.  Read this thread: clicky

a burrito sounds delicious. san diego just a quick hop and a skip away. thats my home town and would be happy just to make the trip. still waiting on my msf certificate so i can finish my license. then i have a one of my reserve military things next weekend but if your willing to teach for a burrito i'm more than willing to take the ride.

til then i'll be ordering the ape tensioner and waiting til it gets here then i'll be looking to make that trip out your way.
