So I thought I had a problem with a clogged jet, but I am not so sure now.

I left home and went about 2 miles, when the bike started bogging down, so I give it more and more gas and am staying at the same speed. Next thing I know it just sputters and died. So I coast into a nearby store parking lot and have it sitting there. I try putting on the choke and it actually fires up runs about 5 sec, and then dies tried it again, same story. Next tried w/ no choke, and wouldn't even turn over.

So I am sitting there for about 15 min trying to think what it could be, checking all the fluids etc, then decide to start it. It starts and seems to be running good. I then turn right around and start heading back home. I get back and the bike was just starting to bog down on me.

I am now confused as to what it is. It seems to be a fuel delivery problem. I took the fairings off and when the bike is running I put my hand on the fuel pump and it seems to be working, I could feel it clicking etc.. and seems to go faster the higher the revs.

Any ideas?

I thought it could be a clogged jet, but my carbs were just done like 4 months ago and if one were clogged, I doubt the bike would die,  I think it would just be running rough.

It would help if you tell us what kind of bike you have.
If it's an F2, then my guess is that you've got a kink in the gas tank vent hose. Next time it bogs down and dies, open the gas cap for a second. If you hear a hiss and then the bike starts, check the hoses under the tank.

94 F2 - Bone stock the way Honda made it.

Oh, I'm sorry! It is a 96 F3. I did take the tank off a while ago, and also took it off today to make sure the fuel line was free, but appears to be ok. The other 2 on the bottom rear of the tank just go straight down so they look ok too. Are those the vent hoses?

If it wouldn't turn over as in hit the start button and nothing happens.. Then it sounds like a bad battery or maybe a charging problem or both...   Not Fuel...

lude, i am having the same exact problem with my 98 f3.  its driving me nuts, i just bought a fuel pump and filter, im going to check to see if thats the problem.  i have heard everything from vacuum to charging system as morerr says.  let me know what you find, ill do the same.

phil, you say if you hear a hiss when you start the bike then something could be wrong?  when i start my bike, it starts up but then a few seconds later it makes a hiss/psssshhht/pressure release type noise.  it that a sign of something bad?

What I was talking about is for F2, if the vent lines are kinked, you can create a vaccum inside the tank, preventing gas flow. If that is the problem, then opening the gas cap will cause a hiss.

F3's have fuel pumps, so they usually don't have that same problem. Not sure what the hiss you are describing is.

This exact problem happened to me last week, and at first I thought maybe something was clogged in the carbs.  I ran a can of seafoam through the tank but at the same time I did notice that one of my two air lines at the bottom of the tank was kinked.  I unkinked it and the bike started right up.  Didn't put two and two together though until reading this post. 

Running seafoam through the gas tank though will make sure nothing is clogging the gas flow through the carbs.
