    race boot question

hi, i just recently bought a used pair of teknic violator boots on ebay.  there size 12 wich my sneekers are too.  but i really only fill in the race boots if i were thick winter socks, so not a hug problem, i may look for a smaller size later,  maybe 11's.  but anyways, im use to riding with sneekers on, yesterday was my first ride with the boots, and it was way different.  is this normal?  like it was harder to get under the shifter lever, and more effort was put into shifting the lever up (wich im sure is because the boot is stiffer with all the leather around it, not as free moving as a sneeker would be). not sure i make much sens here, but if you tell me it will take a few rides to get use to then ok,  great :) .

    Re: race boot question

First let me commend you on having the presence of mind to get a pair of boots for riding (as opposed to sneakers).  Yes!  The boots will feel strange to you at first (feeling the shift lever).  You will quickly adapt to the change and you won't notice the extra effort it takes to get under the shift lever.

    Re: race boot question

If the boots are brand new then it's going to take a few rides to break them in. I used to ride in sneakers all the time too. When I got my boots, I had the exact same problems. I couldn't feel the shift lever as well as I could with sneakers and it was hard to even move my foot to shift. It felt like I was having to shift by pulling my leg up. Now that my boots are broke in and I'm used to riding with them, it feels like it did when i would ride in sneakers.

    Re: race boot question

the down shifting was not a problem, it was getting under the shifter to go up.  id go from like 1st to 2cd, then try and lift again to only stay in 2cd becasue i never let the lever drop down all the way before lifting again for 3rd gear.  that happend to me like 2 times yesterday on my first ride with these boots.  i bout these boots used on ebay.  i also got a full leather teknic suit used on ebay as well.  44 US in size, im 6' 185 pounds, seems to fit me well.  the only thing i have on that i bought new are my teknic gloves i bought years ago, and still have a great fit and look good.  i just dont have the money to buy all new stuff right now.

ya, im no racer by any means, but i have the full 1pc suit and the works just because i feel better with it all on.

    Re: race boot question

You'll probably benefit from adjusting your shift lever to suit your new boots...

    Re: race boot question

im guessing that would be adjusting the lever higher?

this morning i found that when im leaning forward its not so bad, and sets my foot in the correct angle.  it was my second ride with them on so far, they arent feeling so big and bulky on my feet.  but will take a little more time im sure.

I had the same problem when I first started riding with boots. You will get used to it quickly would be my guess. I did and I left my shifter in the stock position.
