Possible miss or carb issue(99 cbr f4)

So I took my bike for a new clutch cable, thermostat, and oil change. Upon initially picking it up I let it run for a minute or two before riding it. So for at least 2 to 3 miles of city riding I noticed upon initially pulling out it was almost sputtering but fine over 2k. Even as it warmed up it did this for a while. So I ran through the gears to really open the carb up and all of a sudden it was fine.

So I start it up today and its a little rougher than usual. Sounds almost like a misfire but cant be sure. Ride 2 miles and meet up with some people and turn it off. Seemed fine the whole ride.

So I restart and its ok. I go to pull out and it was so sputtery it stalled. Restart and its fine. Ride for like 40 mins. Smashing the throttle and no issues. Then out of nowhere it starts again. I am in 3rd gear and really hit it and it seemed dead. Like the carbs wanted to open up but just couldnt. The only thing I can compare it to is the intial bog of a carb when u smash like 2nd gear at a low rpm. But it continually did it. My friend was behind me and said it sounded like a misfire.

So I pull over and shut it down. Upon restart it fixed itself.

I am clueless here guys. Its not a constant problem.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Another thing is I actually stopped by where I had the work done but it was running fine so for him to diagnose was hard. I cant even blame him because he really didnt do anything to affect that kind of stuff.

So I talked to the guy who my friend bought the bike from.  The bike was used at the track mainly so the carb is set to run race fuel and he said he went through plugs a lot. I know these plugs have been in for almost 2 years. He also said if it sits over the winter it fouls the plugs.

So basically I have to have the carb pulled and adjusted for street riding. I kow my friend rode it trouble free for a year. Never had a problem with the plugs or anything so maybe Ill just change them and see what happens

Had the bike out. Running the piss out of it and man it runs great. Wonder what caused it to run that way
